Felony charges for grand theft and identity theft were filed from Alicia Calderon, a former licensed insurance company, after researchers found signs that Calderon took funds from and issued deceptive policies for a commercial building and big-rig trucks leaving two customers exposed to major financial loss. Calderon supposedly provided victims with deceptive policies that comprised effective dates and coverage levels. “Calderon’s using an expired agent permit to victimize hard working individuals would be reprehensible,” said California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara. “Her alleged offenses left every motorist who shared the street with all the prosecution big-rigs at great risk.” Calderon’s bond has been set at $300,000, and her location is unknown at this time.
