On June 6, President Donald Trump signed up a package that would deliver $19.1 billion in disaster relief to communities across the nation that are still recovering from devastating hurricanes, wildfires, and flooding. The bill contains $2 billion for farmers to help cover harvest reductions, $1.6 billion to help repair damaged highways, $720 million to the U.S. Forest Service to aid pay for wildfire suppression efforts, $120 million to assist the National Park Service mend broken public lands, and $670 million into the Air Force to repair hurricane damage at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida and flooding damage at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. In addition, it extends the National Flood Insurance Program through Sept. 30 and provides $600 million in nutrition assistance for Puerto Rico, in addition to $304 million in fresh Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for the island along with also language ensuring that it can gain billions in already-appropriated CDBG funds.
