New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu recently signed into law SB 194, which requires insurers licensed in the country to put in position data security programs and document cybersecurity occasions. Insurers have one year to obey the law following Jan. 1, 2020, when the bill takes effect, and they have two years later date to make sure their third party vendors also honor. Insurers and their sellers must install data security applications, shield non-public information, embrace an incident response program, and inform the state insurance commissioner of a cybersecurity event within three business days of a determination that a cybersecurity occasion has happened when the licensee is domiciled in New Hampshire or in the event the cybersecurity occasion is reasonably believed to have influenced at least 250 New Hampshire inhabitants, among other criteria. Licensees needs to keep records concerning all events for a time of at least five years from the date of the occasion that is cybersecurity. The state insurance commissioner may require”necessary or appropriate” actions to apply the new legislation, and violations can lead to the suspension or revocation of a licensee’s certificate of authority or license or an administrative fine of up to $2,500 per violation….
