Since Hurricane Dorian transferred away from the North Carolina coast, North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey said the North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI) was prepared to help with any insurance related issues or concerns and encouraged citizens and the industry to be watching out for dishonest scams and scam artists. “Hurricane Dorian penalized the North Carolina coastline with strong wind and relentless rain and the Outer Banks experienced catastrophic flood. At the moment, our attention is on helping people,” said Causey. “we would like to help people connect with their insurance businesses and NCDOI consumer service agents who will answer questions and address concerns to help them record insurance claims so they can get their lives back on course whenever possible.” As of Sept. 6, the NCDOI states many areas of the North Carolina coastal regions received up to ten inches from rain and 215,000 customers were without power.
