The Illinois Department of Insurance says residents have managed to accumulate more than $15 million from lost or unclaimed life insurance policies this year. Insurance Director Robert Muriel says about 25% of life insurance policies are not paid to beneficiaries since family members don’t know about the coverage or do not have the necessary paperwork. He adds that citizens can get help finding insurance policies issued to a deceased family member by filing a request on line .
