Arizona’s Department of Insurance (AZDOI) issued an email to all carriers operating in the nation to warn them of an continuing phishing scam. It says that email messages falsely claiming to be in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) are being sent to insurance professionals, even claiming that the NAIC has received a complaint against the professional for submitting a claim. The email includes a link but also the link downloads a trojan virus clicked. Since it displays the CIPR and NAIC logos the email may seem official, but it is a scam. AZDOI noted the virus has been identified as Lime RAT, also a remote access trojan that may be utilised to perform malicious activities on the affected computer, like installing ransomware.
